Wishes

I've been thinking, thinking, thinking... What are my wishes for the new year? 2012... Hmmm. Then I though "What about now? Why can't these things happen in less than three days?" Yeah? So I decided To make a list of (very random) things I want to do, get done, want to happen between now and next year.

1. I want it to snow!!!! Christmas is past, and it only snowed about a half of an inch! What?! It was supposed to snow 5 feet this year!!! 5 FEET!!!! Ehhh.

2. I want to get my own domain name for this blog! I am also going to make this place more interesting after reading  this little  bit of advice.

3. I want to snowboard more!!!! Snowboarding is one of those things that I just didn't really want to do, but I did. It was like jumping off of a highdive- you can't think "well lets see; I could drown, I could break my nose, I'm scared of heights"- you just have to do it without much thinking. I went into this whole snowboarding deal scared of slippery things, scared of being out of control, and scared of falling. Conquering fears is healthy, and I'm so very glad I did it!

4. I am going to graduate highschool! I've pondered this a while thinking maybe I should go another year... but really, as fun as learning is (ha) I'm ready to be done! I guess that if I want to go back and take more biology tests- I have the books!

5. Go somewhere different. I love my home, but I would really like to go somewhere different. I like to try new things, get a feel for something else. In the future I would like to go to Europe, California, Italy, somewhere in the south of the U.S., Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Hawaii... yeah I haven't been around alot...

6. Do more art! I love to paint, draw, write, color... And lately my art supplies and I have been staring at each other sadly saying "I miss you". So sad. Plus now I have this great excuse for working on artsy projects. I just kind of figured out what I want to do in life. I saw some quote somewhere that said this:

Yes! I thought. But what do I like to do? Ever since I was little I've loved art! I just can't get my hands off some kind of drawing utensil. So that's what I'm going to do. Art.

7. Fall more in love with my creator. I'm a christian, if you didn't know. And being a christian, I love Jesus. Jesus is my first love, my savior, and my #1 reason for living. Without him I would be nothing, so I choose to look for more opportunities everyday to fall in love again.

Happy New Year Everyone! Do what you love, love what you do- and never forget the one who makes every year possible! -Sharhaiah

"He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him  He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem... But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed." -Isaiah 53:2-5

Innocent : free from guilt or sin especially through lack of knowledge of evil : blameless (Merriam Webster dictionary definition)

He was tender, He was despised, He was rejected, He was bruised, He was piereced, He is love.

The most frusterating and confusing question I can think of involving Jesus is "why?" We all have questions for God- "Why does this happen?" "Why did you do that?" " Why did you create me?" ... the list goes on and on. But most of these questions start with "why". Why did God send an innocent baby to take care of the sins of the world? The burden must have been incredible. Why didn't God send a warrior like weapon that burst through a stream of fire and lightning? Why is the whole story of Jesus so humble?

We will never ever be able to comprehend the way God thinks. If we can't even comprehend his love- his mind is beyond reach! If it was our choice we wouldn't have sent a baby, in a town that really didn't care. If it was our choice- there would be no shepards, and Jesus would probably have been born into some royal family. If it was our choice an innocent man wouldn't have died. The story wouldn't have worked- we would be dead, there would be nothing to witness about, the burden of our sins would be too much for us to handle. Imagine that.

The birth of Jesus is amazing, stunning, and like no other story ever told or written. Jesus- conquering death, the hope of the world, our greatest love, and the purest joy. Celebrating Christmas we only get a tiny little look at what God really did to send his son. Jesus is the greatest gift we will ever recieve.ever. We have never deserved it, we never will. Nothing tops what God has given us. And what is amazing, is that this gift lives forever, is faithful, and will love us no matter what we do. Merry Christmas!  -Sharhaiah

Things to make:

I've been on pinterest.com lately.... So of course I found lots of things that I want to make, but may never have time for. Some things are so cute, look so delicious, or sound so easy too...hmmm. Here's some things that are on the top of my list of things to make:

My friend Allison found this picture while looking for college dorm decor ideas. Isn't it cute?! This paper cup garland is made out of paper cups and christmas lights!

I'm going to have to make these soon! So adorable!!!! There is a free pattern on the website too!

Last, but not least these  peanut butter chocolate squares. There are only four ingredients!

I'm trying to get pinterest so that I can have my own pinboard. I'll let you know as soon as I get one. Have a nice week! -Sharhaiah

Light

"God spoke: 'Lights! Come out! Shine in Heaven's sky! Separate Day from Night. Mark seasons and days and years.'" -Genesis 1:14 MSG
I cannot even begin to imagine how amazing the begining of Creation must have been. An all powerful being, that we cannot see the image of, but that we see leave finger prints all over the earth; spoke all this into being?! Incredible! Have you seen the images from the Hubble Telescope? Look here http://hubblesite.org/. It just blows my mind! If you have eyes, ears, or a brain you should at least believe that something, someone bigger than ourselves placed us on this earth for a reason. You were born for a reason. You were born to live, to breathe, you have a purpose, you have a destiny. You were born to shine! God had a plan for all of this. God's plans are not ours- I am constantly reminding myself of this. I am reminded of a passage from Rob Bell's book Velvet Elvis (highly recommended!) Bell says " The moment God is figured out with nice neat lines and definitions, we are no longer dealing with God, we are dealing with somebody we made up. And if we made him up, then we are in control." You see- if we try to deal with our own lives and not let God take over- we become our own god, which is scary. Either God is real, or He is not. And I'd rather believe that He is- not out of fear, but because I have seen his love. Shine on! -Sharhaiah
Here is my favorite song about Genesis 1:14. It is by Gungor.
